About Louise

I’m Louise and I’m a Legal English teacher and podcaster from the UK.

Who is Louise?

Hi everyone, I’m Louise, I’m a Legal English teacher and podcaster from the UK and here you can find out a bit about me.

After graduating with a first-class Law degree and subsequently completing a masters in Law at UCL, I worked in the field of international environmental law. This work took me to Brazil for the 2012 Earth Summit, where I ended up living and teaching English. I took a TEFL qualification and a Legal English teaching qualification and began specialising in teaching Legal English.

Whilst learning Portuguese I found listening to podcasts really helpful – with podcasts you have a native teacher with you all the time! This is why, at the end of 2017, I choose to set up Study Legal English – as a way to help busy lawyers and law students around the world improve their Legal English.

Now I am based near Milan and helping people improve their Legal English has become my main life goal! Whilst I continue to teach Legal English both to individuals and groups face-to-face and online, my main focus is developing Study Legal English so that it can be useful for learners around the world.  I love interviewing people and creating the episodes, but I couldn’t do it without the help and support from many people including my family and Joe who helps out with proofreading. Thank you!

As a board member of the European Legal English Teachers’ Association I’m grateful to be part of an excellent support network of Legal English professionals and as a member of the International Division of the Law Society of England and Wales I keep up-to-date on the latest legal  news.

I also enjoy playing and creating music. I grew up playing the piano and I’ve played chocalho, agogo and surdo in samba bands in London and Brazil. I have a diploma in music composition from Trinity Laban Conservatoire and enjoy composing music, although I don’t get much time for it nowadays! The podcast is a way to combine my creative skills, love of languages and academic interest in the law.

If you have any comments you can send me an email or leave a comment on social media.

Thank you for visiting my site and I hope you find it a helpful resource!
